Happy Hour Friday: Pearl Martini

Happy Friday!  It’s Happy Hour Time….well, almost ;)

The Swizzle Stick is a cocktail bar in the Loews Hotel in New Orleans.  We usually make a point to stop in for a drink each time we’re in NOLA.  This is where we discovered St Germaine, a lovely elder flower liqueur that is wonderful mixed with champagne or a variety of other things.  The Swizzle Stick’s specialty drink that lead to this discovery

is the Ginnifer Flowers martini.  Gin, St Germaine and fresh lemon juice are mixed together for a refreshing aperitif.

This cocktail is a variation of that martini.  Playing around with others’ recipes (as we always do), Spicehubby and I came up with a concoction that is even better.  We ran out of gin and had to substitute something else.  In the end, it was Spicehubby who suggested adding pear vodka.  Yes, please!  :)

 Pearl Martini

2 oz Absolut Pear Vodka

1 oz St Germaine

1 oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed

3/4 oz simple syrup

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.  Shake vigorously.  Pour into martini glass and garnish with lemon twist.

Fresh lemon juice always make a difference…for the better.

As does a frosty glass–straight from the freezer!

Cheers!

  • Mmmm pear vodka! This look perfect! My mother-in-law is the biggest pear fan and we gave her a bottle of pear brandy with a whole pear inside (grown in the bottle!), I bet she’d love this cocktail!

  • I’d be stopping for that too! Especially with a bar name like Swizzle Stick! That just screams fun!
